This is our second project now using Belgard’s Noon Porcelain Pavers. It gives our customers a great wood grain patio that is much stronger and long-lasting than traditional decking material. It is extremely low maintenance compared to decking and because the pavers are set on the sand they can be re-leveled if any settling ever occurs. A portion of the patio was set right on top of the existing concrete patio. We then extended the porcelain pavers another ten feet out into the yard. This project required a retaining wall along the outside edge of the patio due to the elevation change from our client’s house to the neighboring house. With the pavers set directly on top of the wall, you would never know it was there. Due to the proximity of the neighboring house, we installed two cedar trellises to help screen the new patio. We installed large galvanized feed troughs for our client to plant annuals, herbs, and vines that will eventually grow up over the trellis. We also dismantled the existing staircase off of the back door and built a new wider set of stairs to fit the entire length of the sliding glass door. We then used the porcelain pavers to create the treads and our clients picked out a great mosaic tile for the risers as well as the exposed foundation wall. The back planting includes Bloodgood Japanese Maple, Gold Rider Cypress, and a Limelight Tree Hydrangea fo our anchor trees. For our larger shrubs, we used Hibiscus, Lilac, Leucothoe and Nine Bark. We also installed two blueberry bushes to give our clients a small fruit harvest to go with the herb garden. The perennials include; Daylily, Heather, Hosta, and Blackeyed Susan. The front of the house started as a strange slope from the house down to the sidewalk. To make the front look as good as the back we installed two retaining walls to create a more level space with raised planter beds. We installed two Yew hedges, with Azalea, and Vinca to break up the starkness of the wall. A third wall was built along the side yard to give our clients an inviting path to the backyard as well as a space to store garbage cans. This space turned out to be one of our best smaller residential projects to date. We are really proud of this space and we think our clients now have a landscape to enjoy with family and friends for years to come
