The first big project of 2016’s spring! We removed about 500 square feet of turf in the back yard to make room for a new patio. Both sides of the yard will have two trellises to provide a privacy screen between the houses. We are giving the front yard a bit of a facelift with some heavy pruning. We used most of the existing plants in the back but we added various trees and shrubs to give some year-round color.
The property has great views of Mount Si, so we added on to the existing concrete patio using a Belgard paver pattern with a continuous border. To add privacy we built cedar trellis on both sides of the back yard. We used a five-leaf Akebia as a climbing vine on the trellis to create a nice privacy screen. Many of the plants we used were existing but we added several trees including; a Bloodwood Maple, Tree Hydrangea, and deciduous Magnolia to give the backyard some great color year-round. We also planted an assortment of perennials along the patio edge to help with the transition from the patio to the lawn.
