This was a great project for us as we were able to build a new deck. Not something that we typically get to do. The idea was to build two separate spaces. The large paver patio is for the kids to play and keep all of their toys, and the deck was designed to be more of a family gathering area. The paver patio was built using Belgard 2×2 Plaza pavers in Victorian color. The deck was constructed out of Trex composite decking material. We built the deck on top of the existing concrete porch that was part of the original building design. We extended the deck out into the yard to make the space much more large and usable. We tried to keep the planting scheme fairly minimal so the homeowner would have room to add their own touches over time. We installed Arborvitae and a Coral Bark Maple for a partial screen from the neighboring homes. Hydrangea, Black-Eyed Susan, Purple Fountain Grass, Hosta, and Heather give the space some summer color pops. We left an area for a future garden as well as installed an Espalier Apple tree and Blueberries to give the yard a sustainable head start. The side yard is mainly a space for storage but we built a great little path lined with Irish Moss, Ferns, and Hellebore. The space really transformed from where it started but we feel like our clients now have a space to enjoy with their family and friends for years to come!
